Visu: An Implementation Of Supplementary Vision Exercises Using SwiftUI
ABSTRACT
Vision exercises are a traditional practice that existed for years and used by
optometrists to strengthen the oculomotor skills in order to improve reading and overall
vision accuracy for children and adults (Bonilla-Warford et al, 2004). Amblyopia or lazy eye
is a neurodevelopmental visual disorder that occurs due to some binocular disturbance in the
earlier years of child development due to a variety of vision diseases. Patients with
Amblyopia demonstrated reduced visual acuity and contrast sensitivity in one eye, which
results in a decrease in depth perception and a plethora of visual deficits, such as fixation
instability and it overall lowers visual experiences. A recent study on the efficacy of vision
therapy and exercises showed that vision therapy remains the golden standard for recovering
any vision acuity and disorders especially in patients with amblyopia (Hernández-RodrÃguez
et al., 2021). This project will seek to facilitate vision exercises and provide easy access to
patients at any time and place, focusing mainly on the difficulties patients face with reading
and identifying objects. The application has been designed with Nielsen's design heuristics in
mind, an easy to use interface that is visually appealing, simple and easy to follow
