ABSTRACT
Analysis of Competing Hypotheses (ACH) is an intelligence analysis tool developed by the Central Intelligence Agency to eliminate the cognitive limitations of selecting a hypothesis. Building on the work of the Analysis of Competing Hypotheses Walkthrough tool, information visualization techniques were used to improve the ACH tool. Through the development of a web application utilizing D3, a visualization library for JavaScript, several new visualizations were developed and evaluated. The most promising visualization, a radar graph, took an innovate approach and produced an interactive and easy to use visualization that clearly demonstrated the information as well as facilitated exploration.
