ABSTRACT
As the Internet of Things grows, home automation becomes more and more ubiquitous. This raises the question of how we will bring smart technology into our homes. Addressing the problem issue of upgrading our current 'dumb' homes into smart ones is important. This report answers that question by building a Bluetooth garage door opener and analyzing the process to gain insight into the problem at a low level. It also examines current existing home automation protocols and products in an attempt to use both analyses to produce a solution to the home automation problem.
