ABSTRACT
Dementia affects the cognitive abilities of millions of people every day. All those affected have their own levels of cognitive ability, which may decline or stay steady. Monitoring these changes in cognitive ability is very important for medical professionals but can prove to be overwhelming at times. This paper cites the research of Wallace et al. for development of an application to help monitor the cognitive abilities of those suffering with dementia. It also includes work based on the research of Molitor et al., on how Alzheimer’s disease affects the eye movements of patients. These two aspects combine to make a “Whack-a-Mole” style game that records the user while they play. We explore the successes and shortcomings of the final product, as well as discuss work that could be built upon it.
