ABSTRACT
Learning the home network, in the context of data security and ownership, is a large field of interest for both academic and legal research. Bridging the gap between the world of Academia and the home consumer is where this field falls short. Not enough tools exist for the home IoT deployment that give end users insights about where their data is going, when, and how. This project seeks to bridge that gap by developing a Home Assistant plugin that translates low level technical information into a less technical, digestible format. The plugin was tested on devices provided by the IoT lab and had interesting findings about the amount and location of data transfer.
