The purpose of my honours project was to develop a web app that could be used by persons with food allergies to help find a restaurant that could accommodate their allergies based on experiences from other food-allergic diners. The web app entitled ‘SnackSafe’ allows users to search for allergy-friendly restaurants as well as to contribute by entering their ratings against restaurants that they have tried. For people with food allergies, it is always challenging to try new restaurants without the fear of encountering a possible allergic reaction. The goal of this web app was to create an easier way for the food-allergic community to find restaurants where they will feel more comfortable dining.
