ABSTRACT
Shopping centres have increased staffing to ensure that customers are wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The purpose of this project is to develop a web application that can show detection of masks to employees. The two primary techniques are deep learning using TensorFlow and image processing with OpenCV. When video footage from a busy environment is used, software testing indicates that a success rate of greater than 50 percent may be assured. Given the increased likelihood of COVID-19 spreading in any indoor location, users of this initiative are not limited to shopping centres but may also be a variety of situations requiring masks.
