ABSTRACT
The purpose of this project is to create program that is able to autonomously guide a drone to follow a person by using facial detection. This is accomplished by receiving a video stream from a drone and if a face is detected, sending the corrective adjustment necessary to position the face both centred and the correct distance away from the drone. This project presents unique challenges as not only do the drone controls have to be precise enough to remain in control but also must react fast enough to track a constantly moving object. Despite the challenges presented, this project is particularly enticing due to its practical applications. Considering drones are capable of maneuvering virtually any terrain with ease, the success of this project could result in new ways of cinematography.
