ABSTRACT
This honors project is different from the typical computer science projects. This project tackles a side of computer science often neglected, the ethical side of coding. The paper starts with a science fiction short story exploring the privacy concerns of facial recognition and social credit systems. To accompany the short story is a small essay highlighting the ethical problems through ethical frameworks like deontology and utilitarianism. The idea was to get the readers brain revolving around the possible ethical issues of certain algorithms. Lastly is an analytical paper highlighting the issues, limitation, pros and cons of facial recognition and social credit systems. The analytical paper is meant to cap the project of by looking at biases and privacy concerns that certain algorithms create when used.
