ABSTRACT
Digital accessibility is the “digital wheelchair-ramp” that allows digital content such as websites, applications, and electronic documents to be accessed by assistive technologies, and by extension allows users with disabilities to reap their benefits. This project seeks to educate developers on how they can implement digital accessibility into web applications through explanation and demonstration. This Digital Accessibility Demonstration Web Application targets frequently used, high impact types of application contents that can make a substantive difference on the user experience of those with disabilities. Specifically, matters relating to images, language markup, status messages, focus order, dialog boxes, and webforms are both discussed and provided with examples of applicable accessibly features by way of their implementation in the Demonstration Web Application itself.
