ABSTRACT
During the COVID-19 pandemic, most universities shifted to an online learning approach, and with it, online assessments. This brought in extensive use of e-proctoring software — for example Carleton University’s CoMaS, BigBlueButton, Zoom or other Chrome extensions. This study aims to understand student perceptions of e-proctoring software and e-proctored exams. Through a survey garnering 98 responses, the findings of this study show technical issues, privacy concerns and concerns about being misflagged to be the biggest stressors for students taking e-proctored online exams. These results also highlight a need for further research in this topic to improve the hybrid system that is being implemented as students return to university after the pandemic.
