ABSTRACT
Role-playing games (RPGs) often make use of numbers that represent the total power of a game entity like the player or the enemies. These numbers make up a level system, in which experience points are tallied up and used to give the player stats or ability bonuses for a job well done. The goal of this project is to compare the level systems of a series of different RPGs, including their experience growths and stat gains, and combine some of their aspects into a compound level system that's unique from the other games. The results from the data will reveal some common traits among the games' systems, the types of variation that can exist among them, and provide a foundation for what to consider when creating a unique level system.
